Activation – This quest is not strictly a companion quest but it is necessary to complete it to recruit Anders. Being a story line quest it is compulsory to complete it. To start the quest off you need to talk to Varric at the Hanged Man. He will express the need for maps of the Deep Roads.
The biggest advantage of having Anders on your team is his ability to heal all party members. This is an invaluable skill that no other companion possesses. However, it shouldn’t be relied on too heavily. Anders has a personality clash with Fenris and Sebastian.
Gifts still influence friendship and rivalry, but the number of gifts in the game has been significantly reduced from Dragon Age: Origins. Companions react differently to gifts depending on their friendship/rivalry score.
If all you want is the game itself, the standard edition is the one to get. Note that the PC version is $10 cheaper than the console version, and that it’s Steam Deck verified. Very exciting.
The Hawke family and Aveline Vallen were rescued from the Darkspawn hordes by Flemeth, who helped them to arrange for travel to Kirkwall; in return, Hawke has to travel to Sundermount at some point in time to deliver an amulet to Marethari of the Sabrae clan. In Kirwall, players experience Hawke's relationships with their mother, siblings, lovers and other characters develop over the length of a decade.[10]

Merrill's romance cutscene doesn’t queue until after her Questioning Beliefs quest. The Flirt option indicates that she is available, but she will be considered queued so long Vencedor any Flirt option was taken beforehand, not necessarily this one. Note that Merrill is always last in the queue, so Anders must be outright dumped before she will visit.
Just flirting with a character will unlock the Flirtatious achievement/trophy, but the Romantic achievement/trophy won't unlock until just before the final battle in Act 3.

Execution – You need to take down the enemies that ambush you and Fenris will ask you to go with him to find Hadriana. If Fenris is not in your party and you take too long to get around to this quest, eventually pop up and confront you, resulting in him leaving the party.
